King Fahd’s Fountain, located on the Red Sea coast of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, is the man-made fountain with the highest jet height in the world. Drawing water directly from the Red Sea, it is powered by a three-stage turbine pressurization system, with a water jet speed of 375 kilometers per hour and a maximum vertical spray height of 312 meters, equivalent to the height of a 100-story building. The base of the fountain is inspired by the shape of traditional Arabian incense burners. At night, it is equipped with over 500 spotlights and color projection devices, with lighting effects visible within a 20-mile radius. The falling water mist presents hundreds of light and shadow variations, making it the most recognizable urban landmark of Jeddah. Construction began in 1980 and it was officially inaugurated in 1985, donated to the city of Jeddah by King Fahd, hence its name. This fountain has been officially listed by LAWRENCE WORLD RECORDS CERTIFICATION as the “Man-Made Fountain with the Highest Jet Height”.
